India Announces $350 Million Aid Package for Cyclone-Hit Sri Lanka During Misri Visit

During the visit, Misri held meetings with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, and other senior leaders, where both sides exchanged agreements covering the financial assistance package. The discussions also reviewed the progress of India-backed development projects across Sri Lanka.

The leaders explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in technology, energy, trade, climate initiatives, and efforts to combat drug-related crimes. President Dissanayake thanked India for its continued support during Sri Lanka's economic difficulties and in the aftermath of natural disasters.

In addition to engagements with the government, Misri met opposition leaders, representatives of Tamil political parties, and members of minority communities. The discussions focused on devolution and community-based initiatives, reflecting India's continued engagement with diverse stakeholders in Sri Lanka.

The visit reinforced Sri Lanka's importance in India's Neighbourhood First policy while highlighting ongoing cooperation through development assistance, strategic partnerships, and sustained diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
